An Analytical Study of Enlightenment of Paṇḍita Samanera

Abstract

 The objectives of this thesis were as follows: 1) the enlightenment in Theravāda Buddhist doctrine, 2) the history of Pāramī accumulation and enlightenment of Bandhita Samanera, and 3) an analysis of enlightenment of Bandhita Samanera in Theravāda Buddhist doctrine with study of document from Theravāda Buddhist texts i.e. Tipitaka, discourse, commontary and concoming texts, to compile by descriptive for presentation to the specialist then recorection under recommendation.

            The findings was as follows.

            1. The enlightenment in Taravāda Buddhist doctrine means success or attain the the goal in Buddhism beginning from basic understanding of Dhamma i.e. Lokiya level up to higher is that Lokuttara, so that the man who enter of training process he must attain as Ariya (noble man) in each level, as briefly said, Phrasodābanna, Phrasakadāgāmī, Phra-anāgāmī and Phra-Arahan.

            2. The history of Pāramī accumulation and enlightenment of Bandita Samanera, as know that he was ever been a poor in Kassapa Lord Buddha period, one day he was offered food to Lord Buddha as a result, he was pleased after finished breakfast then chanting, Mahādukata became richer, he always offering dāna trough his life, after death he was born in Devaloka (heaven) and reborn in the womb of eder sister in the family of Sārīputta patronage, after born out he was named Bandhita after seven years he asked for becoming Samanera with Phrasarīputta after becoming Samanera for eight days he attained Arahanta just listen Dhamma for four items of Lord Buddha.

            3. An analysis of enlightenment of Bandhita Samanera in Theravāda Buddhist doctrine as known that, the vipassanā practice has two guidelines, Samathayānik means Vipassanā with basic study, making Thāna occurred upto Vasī happened in Thāna component all five i.e. Vitaka, Vicāra, Piti, Sukha and Ekaggatā after root out from Thāna of Jitta them considered with Vipassanā principle upto seeing of Trinity of nominate but Vipassanāyānik means pure Vipassanā based on Khanikasamādhi which appered in present emotion only, to build up wisdom for perceiving the being of nominate as reality up to Vipassanāyāna happening.
