Abstract

The aims of this research are to study role of being the typical Buddhist of Anathapindika Setthi, to study role of being the typical Buddhist of Visakha Maha Upasika, and to compare roles of Anathapindika Setthi and Visakha Maha Upasika

The results are found as follows:

Anathapindika Setthi was praised as the foremost in donation by the Buddha. He was a typical Buddhist with the prominent role in giving support to the Sangha, and firmly held himself to be good lay devotee. He was a Stream-Enterer and a firmly faithful person in Buddhism. He always visited the temple to listen to Dhamma and to make merit by giving alms. He was the prototypical and typical Buddhist who was full of virtues. Visakha Maha Upasika was praised as the foremost in donation by the Buddha. She had the prominent Buddhist role in support of the Sangha with four requisites. She was faithful in Buddhism and persuaded relatives, servants, and attendants to believe in Buddhism. She helped her persons and society with pleasure and sacrifice.

In comparison the roles of Anathapindika Setthi and Visakha Maha Upasika it is found that they are the same in terms of the prominent roles in support of the Sangha with four requisites, being firmly faithful in Buddhism, and construction of permanent buildings to Buddhism i.e. Anathapindika Setthi, the temple of Jetavana and Visakha Maha Upasika, the temple of Pubbarama. Both Buddhists are beloved and merciful millionaires and like to help society.Download
