ABSTRACT

The main objectives of this research were: 1) to study the Sangha's perspectives on the Sangha Administration Efficiency of Meang Keng Tung, Shan state, Union of Myanmar; 2) to compare a role of the Sangha administration efficiency in Meang Keng Tung, divided by personal factors; and 3) to study the problems, obstacles, and the way to develop the Sangha Administration Efficiency of Meang Keng Tung.

The study was conducted using quantitative research, the research surveys by collected field data of the students and qualitative research collected by in-depth interviews. The samples were selected from the Sangha administors and monks in Meang Keng Tung, comprising of 342 in number by means of a random cluster (Cluster Sampling), with a questionnaire researcher analyzed. Data obtained from questionnaire research was analyzed and presented as frequency % , , and S.D F-test was first performed using ANOVA to test equality of two variances, and then LSD was used to compare the difference between paired data. The statistical significance of this was set to be 0.05.

The findings of this research are as follows:

1. The opinion of the monks toward the Sangha Administration Efficiency of Meang Keng Tung, in overall was at a high level.  The average value of ( =3.58) was considered the administrative aspect. On the administration and general relief were in the medium. In other things were in the high level.

2. The comparison of the Sangha's view toward the Sangha Administration Efficiency of Meang Keng Tung, Shan state, Union of Myanmar, by ages, years of ordination, general education, ecclesiastical education, and occupations, founded that the differences in ages, years of ordination, general education, ecclesiastical education, and occupations significant at confidence level 0.05. Therefore, accepted the hypothesis.

3. The lack of the Sangha Administration in Meang Keng Tung, is not having any plans, not putting right man on right job, not getting the right people, to the right place, at the right time, honoring teacher is not enough. And there is no executive to complete their training policies as well.  

The results synthesis and interviews of the Sangha Administration Efficiency of Meang Keng Tung as seen that; Most of the Buddhist monk from there interested in the rule of Sangha administration, wants to join University in Thailand and abroad. The temple has a library and Have a fair knowledge and training for children and youth to up growing.

Finally, we had come up with suggestions to ease the problems mentioned above. There should be recommended and advised on practical rules of Sangha, all levels of monks there should have the senior monks to look for their manner and conduct. On religious studies, there should have training frequently to the monks, novices. On the Welfare side, there should provide funds to assist the administrator with a clear and strong view. On the propagation of Buddhism, there have adequate documents in the propagation of Buddhism and the Buddhist community who are in need. There should add to provide adequate housing. On the public welfare, there should coordinate with other agencies in order to help the Sangha in providing assistance to the society.
