The purpose of this research was to study the roles of temples and communities in the conservation of candle procession festival in Ubonratchathani Province and study the problems and obstacles or troubles in the conservation of candle procession festival in Ubonratchathani province, and it is using documentary study, deep interview and participant observation as research method.  Population and samplers used in this research. The methodologies were the temples and communities.

            The results were found as follows:

         1.The roles of temples and communities in making the candle of Ubonratchathani province was found in the first. The temples didn’t have roles in making the candle but would be receivers the candle from the Buddhist devotes only.  And the communities had the roles in making the candle for the purpose of offering to monks who lived at their own temples with rain robes and various gifts.  In present time, the communities still have the roles in making the candle as the same in the past.  Except there was the purpose for taking the candle to give to the monks. There was the purpose for participation of candle competition in Ubonratchathani province.  But the temples facilitated in the part for making the candle of the communities.

             2. In the aspect of candle procession festival, first it was the tradition of faith and belief in Buddhism. The monk  would use the light of candle in ecclesiastical works. But today has changed a lot.

            3. In the aspect of knowledge and culture dissemination, the temples and communities were still center for providing knowledge about the candle, which the teams of candle carver of the temples and the communities would educate to the  young people or those who are interested. The dissemination of candle procession festival required the cooperation of the government and private sectors or committee.

       4. In the aspect of solution problems and obstacles in the conservation of candle procession festival or tradition, it was found that 3 problems should be solved as the follows:

                   4.1 In the aspect of personnel, there must be inheritability how to make each candle systematically and there are curriculums or courses clearly for new candle carvers instead the old candle carvers.

             4.2  The temples and communities should not emphasize to make the candle for competition or desire to win the contest too much.

                   4.3  In the aspect of budget, in making of each candle, the temples and communities mush spend the budget in making of the candles. Government and private sector should provide to support in the budget adequately for making each candle.  If so, it is one of the reasons why the Ubonratchathani  candle procession festival has run out or lost. Because the annual payment in making of each candle increased highly  in every year.

            In the conservation of candle procession festival or tradition, everybody should participate in the conservation. The government should support them extremely especially the sufficient budget for making of the candle in each temple or community. It should not be the burden or duty of the temples or communities only in the payment.

            There should be the conservation of the candle after the ending of candle procession festival at the suitable place in the candle procession festival of Ubonratchathani province. It helps to promote and support the tourism of Ubonratchathani province and it is the publicity of Ubonratchathani province too.
